Common Core Background – White Paper

While it is long (44 pages), you might want to read it if you have a chance. There is a lot of factual information with endnotes at the back to direct you to the sources.

Controlling-Education-From-the-Top-PRINT, May 2012. This 23 page white paper written by Emmett McGroarty and Jane Robbins and published by American Principles Project and the Pioneer Institute.

Why Weaken Privacy Laws?

We all cherish our privacy, but why would the Federal Government want to weaken our privacy laws?  Unbelievably, under Common Core State Standards (CCSS), the U.S. Department of Education is allowing access to our children’s personal information, even medical records, to outside entities.

The Electronic Privacy Information Center (epic.org) has filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Education challenging the changes to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).  See here for more information.
