Why Weaken Privacy Laws?

We all cherish our privacy, but why would the Federal Government want to weaken our privacy laws?  Unbelievably, under Common Core State Standards (CCSS), the U.S. Department of Education is allowing access to our children’s personal information, even medical records, to outside entities.

The Electronic Privacy Information Center (epic.org) has filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Education challenging the changes to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).  See here for more information.

Kudos to Dr. Gary T. Thompson, Director of Community Advocacy Services and consultant for the Early Life Child Psychology & Education Center in Utah. As a registered Democrat, he believed that Glen Beck and his recent show on Common Core (on The Blaze) was hyperbolic. However, as he set out to prove Glen wrong he discovered the truth and is now fighting to stop Common Core.

It’s refreshing to see someone who disagrees seek out and discover the truth rather than write it off.  You can read Dr. Thompson’s open letter titled “A Plea for Patience, Wisdom, and Parental Choice in Public Schools” here

Have you read the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) that details out the data mining that is going to happen as part of Common Core State Standards?  You may think the Department of Education has our kids best interests at heart, but read for yourself and see what they have in store (and are already doing to some extent).  Whatiscommoncore.com has done a great job of detailing the biometric, behavioral, and family life data points being collected.  Please read and judge for yourself if you are comfortable with this. #stopcommoncore, #commoncore, #CCSS
